AI output is only one step in the workflow
The user still needs to understand what was recognized, how confident the system is, what requires review, and what action will happen next. A strong interface turns an AI response into a dependable business process.
Use structured results
Structured fields are easier to validate, edit, save, and display than a paragraph of generated text. The frontend should receive predictable values and provide sensible defaults when fields are missing.
Confidence should affect the experience
- High-confidence results can continue automatically.
- Medium-confidence results should be highlighted for quick review.
- Low-confidence results should require confirmation.
- Failures should preserve the user's work and offer a clear retry path.
Never invent business-critical values
When an external source does not return usable data, the interface should show that pricing, identity, or another result requires review. A transparent zero or unavailable state is better than a confident-looking guess.
Keep the human in control
Automation is most useful when the user can pause it, inspect results, correct mistakes, and resume. Good AI product design increases speed without removing accountability.
